A Decade of Action: How the City of Austin Combined Policy and Economic Development to Enable A Circular Economy
Circular Economy is fast emerging as the critical next step in zero-waste and environmental justice best practices. A decade ago, the City of Austin proposed zero waste goals that also included economic development strategies and targets to help the business community share societal and environmental objectives for circular economy, while promoting behavior change adoption. This session will focus on local government examples of how policy implementation and cross collaboration with multiple departments, businesses, and stakeholders, led to an investment in programming to build a local circular economy ecosystem.
