EcDev Communications: Leveraging the Municipality to Raise the Economy’s Profile
In December 2021, the City of Vaughan undertook a Council-approved corporate re-organization, creating greater synergies between Corporate and Strategic Communications and Economic Development through the new Office of Communications and Economic Development. In her presentation, Jennifer Ormston, the City’s Director of Corporate and Strategic Communications, will discuss how the restructuring has positioned the office to further accelerate the local economy through strategic communications, marketing and promotional efforts about the advantages of doing business in Vaughan. Additionally, she will outline how the Economic Development-Communications Business Unit fulfils a vital opportunity to remove silos and leverage existing budget, staff resources and institutional knowledge to provide the public, businesses, stakeholders and Council with information that delivers extraordinary customer service, enhances the citizen experience and provides opportunities.
